Today is: Pan American Health Day

Pan American Health Day in America, was enacted in the Medical Congress met in Dallas (Texas) in 1933 as a tribute to the birth of Dr. Juan Carlos Finlay, a medical researcher, born in Puerto Principe (Cuba) a December 3, 1833 .

dr juan carlos finlay was the one who confirmed the theory of yellow fever spread thraough the mosquito aedes aegypti, in a presentation at the academic of sciences of habana on augusto 14, 1881. thus opened a way in a medical progress in tropical america, prevented thousands of deaths in latin america and facilited th...e evolution of the construction of the panama canal because many workers were dying of this disease. in his honor we celebrate the panamerican doctors day
